10:00 AM Shoot

The Clay Flush Challenge, a team-based shotgun event, will be held on Saturday 12 October with registration and warm-up starting at 0900. This is a very fast, very energetic event with continuous action while you are competing. Team work, communication, and coordination are required.

For the Flush Challenge a team of two or three shooters will be competing. When the team is ready and calls for the event to start, five clay targets will be simultaneously thrown, one target each from five different machines . After that initial “flush” one target will be thrown every one to two seconds, depending on team classification, from five different machines for a total of 50 targets.

Entrance fee is $25 per person with $18 donated to your charity off choice through the CFC. Re-entrance or re-shoot will be $10 with $4 going to CFC.

Form a team and challenge other teams. As a single shooter, get placed with others to form a team. Make this a fun, light hearted, yet challenging event.

To sign up, pre register for your shooting time or more information contact:

The competition factor of this shoot is fun. You can get two passes through the course in just over two minutes.

The 5 machines were all tested and working fine yesterday. Throwing good, yet some challenging targets.

Several shooters tried the course of fire. General impression, this is a fast, fun, and challenging event. The strategy and planning on which target to shoot by which shooter was hard to maintain.

One team has stated they will win because the straight away from post three trap target, is a sure dead target. So the rest of the targets must also be easy. The skeet shooter is going to get all 20 crossing targets. While the duck hunter can easily get the high from behind ducks. We'll see if they can really shoot a perfect 50. The scorer from yesterday is betting they will only get 25 of 50 targets.

The practice was fun and entertaining. Event should be even better.

The Edwards Rod & Gun is currently scheduled to be OPEN at the normal times throughout the Federal Government shutdown.

While the range is on a Federal installation and the employees are government employees, the funding for the Outdoor Recreation program is not through appropriated funds. The range and Outdoor Recreation are to be self-sustaining entities. So the employees are still at work. The management and office staff are furloughed.

Bottom Line: Range will be open. Shoot will be held. Entrance control point will be open with guards checking identifications and sponsorship list.

PMer,

The shoot is set up to be something different than the standard trap/ATA or skeet/NSSA event. Some shooters have been requesting and recommending events that are quicker, not taking 3 to 6 hours to complete.

A team can complete signup, safety brief, and event shoot in less than 30 minutes. A team can shoot four times, in 40 minutes. 200 targets for a team in less than hour from driving into the range until leaving.

Shoot as many times as you would like. You can also get in trap or skeet practice as fields will be open for both.

Good question Mark.
Two shells in the gun. Put the over/under and semi-auto on somewhat equal ground. Given the hunters will be able to have three shells, the honor system will be used. Not going to make shooters get another plug. In the formal Sportsman Team Challenge the proper plug is needed. Given this is a fun shoot, we will not force the two shell plug. For safety each gun will be checked before leaving the firing line.

The other safety rule only one gauge is allowed. If you want to shoot sub-gauge or tubes, both shells must be the same. Standard rule for ATA, NSSA, and NCSA. Sub-gauges are welcome, along with pump guns.

The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter team was out practicing today. Looks like they are ready to challenge maintenance, officer, and retired teams. Should be a good and entertaining event.

With each round only taking a minute, team can get in several runs. You can also change teams and try again.

This is a fun event for charity. Shoot referee's and management's decisions are final not subject to instant replay.

The Range Safety Officer stated all shooting boxes have been overhauled and are in great shape.

The five machines being used for this event will provide:

... two targets from behind and overhead - duck tower

... one target going away - trap target

... crossing targets similar to station 4 skeet but both from low houses

Several questions have been asked about this charity shoot. To clarify:

The event will be shot by a team of two or three shooters. Teams will be made through pick ups and random selections. Teams may also sign up as complete teams.

Shooters can compete on more than one team. Multiple entries are allowed.

Two shots only per gun.

12 gauge ammo is available at the shoot. No other gauges are available.

All gauges are allowed. No handicap is provided to sub-gauges.

After the initial flush of five(5) targets, targets will be thrown every one to two seconds. It is up to the team to decide who will shoot which target. Multiple shots at one target is allowed.

The spirit of the game is important. This is a fun shoot to raise many for charity (and to expand the shooter base, show new shooters this sport can be fun.)
