Current car registration and proof of insurance are required to drive on Edwards AFB.

Pre-registration is highly encouraged and requested to help ensure base access, proper staffing and sufficient food and beverages.

This shoot has been scheduled in the best shooting weather season for Edwards AFB. Fall has the lowest average winds of any time in the high desert.

    ---------------

In light of the recent amount of calls that the CGSTA has received on the matter of having to shoot two days of a Winter Chain Weekend to be eligible for a Winter Chain CGSTA Buckle, we the EC of the CGSTA, have decided to recind that requirement. A shooter may now be eligible to win a Winter Chain buckle without having to shoot two days of the weekend. Hope this helps the shooters who may not have been able to go for the two days to certain clubs.

Targets were looking very good today. Nice clear background. Calm winds.
Current weather for the Chain Shoot is predicted to be calm to light winds with mild temperatures.
Club house nas no good selection of ammo, so bring your own. We are working to get deliveries of shot and shells at a "good" price but that looks questionable to be done before the Chain Shoot.
Speeding ticket issue rate is up on base. Obey the speed limit.
Looking forward to a great shoot.

    Great news.

The CGSTA is providing Champion Trophies for each of the yardage groups for the Champion Event.

That is five (5) more chances at a CGSTA trophy.
    Additional details to follow.

Please pay attention to your speed. A radar gun is set up at the guard station at the base entrance. If your are over the limit on the road into the base you most likely will be cited.

I was planning on coming up and shooting Sunday but now with the new rule of having to shoot at least one event Saturday to be eligible for Sundays big event there is no need coming on Sunday. With gas prices sky high I can't afford to drive both days. I am not a fan of the new rule. I hope this doesn't hurt your attendance. Good luck with your shoot! Huntinandhotrods

I guess I can understand the purpose of this new rule, But it seems like its going to cause the club to lose shooters.

The CGSTA provides trophies for the Handicap Championship Event at each of the Winter Chain Shoots. Shortly we should see the "Trophy" and will then share the details. Yes it could be a custom belt buckle with or without a coin. Come out to the shoot and see for yourself.

If by trophy you mean gold coin buckle for all yds great. For me it seems like the CGSTA/ATA is giving up quality for quanity, not a trend Im fond of. Sorry but dont be suprised if I (and many others)dont show up with this format.

Aaron I am sorry you will not be there,as you probably know we are a small club and most of the work done is from a few members who try there best to throw the best shoot we can (Weather premitting).
As far as CGSTA's prizes I have no idea what they are but at least there will be 5 winners walk away happy rather than 1. And with the price of gold, I don't believe clubs or anyone will be able to justify giving gold as prizes without raising the price so high we won't be able to afford to shoot.
Basically all we can promise you, is the best background and the best targets we can possibly throw, if the weather will let us. Bill Mclain

I have the left the details of the CGSTA provided trophy out. As soon as pictures or the actual items are provided, we will let you know. I can not commit on behalf of the CGSTA.

As for Club-provided prizes, we are planning for ammo or cash for the singles, doubles, and first handicap event winners, along with the highest non-CGSTA winning score in each yardage group. (If you do not shoot on Saturday, you can still win the Club-provided award.)

ATA and CGSTA annual dues can be paid at the shoot. The CGSTA sticks will be available. ATA and CGSTA daily fees will be collected.

With the small number of shooters preregistered/presquaded food is currently projected to be hamburgers and hot dogs. If there are specific and funded requests, we will see what the chef can prepare. If you have a supply of great-tasting lobster, we will try our best to serve and dine.
