The new Pat Traps are installed at Durand Sportsmans Club and we would like to invite you trap shooters to come and give them a try. A great time would be the weekend of June 23rd and 24th, when we are hosting the Jon and Shirley Hayes Marathon Shoot. We will be shooting 500 singles on Saturday and 500 Doubles targets (250 pairs) on Sunday. We will have a pot-luck dinner Saturday evening at 7:00. Bring a dish to pass and your own table service. Also, we have 4 houses of used Laporte Traps for sale - all 285 models capable of throwing doubles.

Setterman - we are located about 4 miles south of the town of Durand, off of I-69 between Flint and Lansing. You can get the information that you need off of our website, durandsportsmans.com. Shooting will begin both days at 10:00 each day. If you decide to come, look me up and we can talk setters, bird hunting, etc. Also, if you have any other questions, you can call Nancy Sine at (989) 288-5606. We hope to see a lot of folks there.

As far as the marathon shoots each day, you do not have to shoot the whole 500 targets either day. You can shoot any multiple of 100 that you wish. There will be trophies for each 100 bird event and for the overall 500 each day and also for the 1000 targets combined for both days.

Keith, looking for a place to shoot in southern Michigan, close to Angola, Indiana off Rt 69 or so. Are there any cubs in that area? I figure your 2+ hours from Angola?

Dove Commander - I'm sure there are clubs in Michigan closer to you than we are, but not sure where. I believe your estimate of how far away we are is about right. We are about 30 minutes east of Lansing.

BigM-Perrazi - why don't you come along also? You don't have to shoot all 500 doubles.

Hey Keith- you guys going to serve that "killer" breakfast on 6-23/24? And, what about the good looking cook; will she be there too? Count me in if you say yes.-Jerald

Anyone planning on attending the shoot or visiting the club: Note there is a lot of X-way work going on in MI., so check your maps for alternate routes and try to avoid I-69 E/W or I-75 from the north.

There are lots of excellent access roads from the north or south. From the north, I'd suggest M-13 running south from Saginaw. M-21 from the west will intersect M-13 if coming from the west. If coming from the north, M-57, then south on M-13 will be trouble free.

Watch your speed on M-13 (55 MPH), the police patrol frequently! The town of Lennon has a gas station that is usually cheaper than most.

Keith- what roads would you recommend south of M-13/I-69 to get to the club? Maybe some roads coming direct off I-96 too.-J

Jerry - excellent advice - thank you! As far as coming from the south, it will be pretty hard to avoid construction. Coming north on I-75/US-23, I would just deal with the construction - about 6 miles of 1 lane traffic. Once you get to Elms Road, it is clear sailing. Coming north in M-52, I would normally suggest taking Lansing Hwy to the east, but there is a bridge out on that now and a detour going around it. However, it will be worth the trouble to come and shoot these targets! And yes, Jerry, the free breakfast and lunch, fixed by the good looking cook, will still be in play!

Stevea - the only Tom that I know that shoots at Durand is a plumber.

MTA Tom - thanks for the help!

I shot at Durand yesterday. The new Pats were working perfectly, and the targets had been carefully set. Nice job!
