I would like know the components to reload the factory Nitro 27>> 1 1/8 oz. 7 1/2 as they list "new softer recoil at 1235fps". Also, is there a handicap load for using 700x >> 1 1/8oz. 71/2 with fairly low chamber pressures. I looked at IMR's data the best I saw was 700x >> Rem 209 >> Rem fig 8 >> 18 grains >> 10400 psi >> 1200 velocity. Has any one had experience with this load? I like the metering of 700x, but I recently shot the Nitro and got two card punches over the weekend. Thanks in advance.Rod

I forgot to mention that I reload 1 oz. with STS Green and Gold hulls.

I know the factory Nitro 27 uses a very dense fine grain powder and the green TGT12 wad. I use Green Dot powder which is too bulky for that 1 oz wad and I have to use a wad designed for 1 1/8 oz loads.

I use 17.5 grains 700x with STS or Nitro hulls Win 209 primer, claybuster wads and 1 1/8 of 7 1/2 for long (second target) for doubles as I'm slow to get on the second target. Nice soft load with plenty of fire power and quickness, 1200 FPS with 9800 PSI. First shot 16.5 grains 700x with 1 oz is about 1185 fps. If you were to increase powder to 17 grains it would be around 1200 fps with 9300 PSI with 1 oz loads. I've been told you need to stay between 9000 and 10,000 PSI with 700x to keep it burning clean.

The real powder in Nitro's is said to be Titegroup and yes it is very dense. A little goes a long long way. 18.3 is about what is called for and I would think it would do you well.

    hope this helps somewhat.

Thanks all! I just called Hodgden they told me the duplicate was STS hull>> 1 1/8oz. 71/2>> Rem.209>> Rem.fig8>> 18.2grain of Tightgroup>> pressure at 10200psi>> velocity at 1235fps------or use 700x 18.5 grains with a slightly higher pressure at 10800psi and velocity still at 1235fps. Does higher pressure using 700x result any significance. Because, I reload with 700x 10z. now?

I would recommend using the TGT-12S wad instead of the figure 8.

If you cut apart a Nitro 27, that's what wad they use.

    Toly99,

If you use titegroup powder, you'll need to sustitute a TGT wad for the Fig 8 wad. This substitution is ok with Hodgdon without any effects on pressure. The Fig 8 wad will cause a dreep crimp and your loads will be inconsistant. The TGT wad can be used for 1 1/8 oz and 1 oz loads with titegroup. The TGT wad is also good for 7/8 oz loads using titewad powder.
