I would like to share an experience with you about drinking and driving.

As you well know, some of us have been lucky not to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the various social sessions over theyears.

A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends and hada few too many beers and then topped it off with a margarita. Not a goodidea.

Knowing full well I was at least slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before: I took a taxi home.Sure enough I passed a police road block but because it was a taxi, theywaved it past.

I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise.I have never driven a taxi before and am not sure where I got it.

Good one! Just call any NY cab company and explain that you think its theirs and it just washed up in your driveway and they need to come and git it

It is far more easier not to drink and drive than it is to.

If you can't find a cab to take, would an unoccupied police cruiser do?

true story...buddy of mine, slightly older than I was...was driving himself home after a few too many one night. This was back in the 70s, when it was probably more common than not, and there wasn't the stigma there is today.

Anyway, Jimmy was driving home, and doing a pretty good job of it, not weaving or anything, until he noticed a police cruiser following him. No lights or anything on, just happened to be going down the same street at the same time.

So Jimmy veered up into a yard and hit a tree.

    No $hit.

Jeff, I will tell exactly what happened, he was watching the cop in his rear view more than he was watching the road, I had almost the same thing happen to me a long time ago

My only savior was I was driving a work truck and it was real well stocked with HVAC parts and afterword I found out it he would have took me in he would have to inventory every part when he had the truck towed

It made sense because he really studied what I had in the rear of the van

And I do know inventory on them took at least 12 hours, and I would have rather had a butt whooping than do it again

But I did get real good a making up a fake inventory
