bydslayr, Great pic!. Nice Lab, looks like a Lab should!.
I'd shoot my/a 10 before any of the 3 1/2" 12's I've tried. Talk about dentist job security!.
The chokes are very tight I think thats why the relatively small(for 10 ga) payload kills pretty well. I use the only wads I can find. The old Rem wads. SP 10 I think. But put spacer inside to take up some room. Green Dot powder and a FED 209A. Same load Ive used at skeet and sporting clays. Just substitute reclaimed for the bismuth. JW
Location? Maybe, upper Michigan somewhere? I like 10 GA guns (and Labs). My Spanish 10 gauge double was stolen, so I bought a Browning Gold Auto Mag 10. It kicks less than the 3.5" 12 gauge Browning Gold I also have, but much heaver.
Elsie is just over 6 years old. She is a littermate to the male I just lost. She had her ankle fused solid due to extreme arthritis and cartilidge damage about a year ago. Light hunting duty doesn't seem to faze her a bit. I really liked how that picture came out today and plan on enlarging it for the wall. Thanks for the nice comments. JW
It is always a unique experience shooting with "The Byrslayer", sometime it's the confetti from the classic 10ga shells and others you have to wonder if he loaded his 28ga with spent primers and marsh mellows, either way broken targets or dead birds are always the end result.
Some Northern birds are starting to raft on Lake Erie.
