    Dress code for Trapshooting?

I was thinking about going with a friend for a sporting clays event this weekend until reading the rules.

They have dress codes and on a sporting clays forum suggest dressing the opposite of a trap shooter?

    No open-toe footwear (sandals, etc)

No sleeveless shirt (short-sleeve Tee-shirt is OK, muscle shirt is not)

No collarless shirt (Tee-shirt OK because it has a knitted collar)

No short shorts (Bermuda shorts OK)

During the summer when temps are over 100 degrees I wear sandals, may be wrong but I don’t care to pay to shoot if they’re not allowed.

Flame away if needed, I'm old and set in my ways

The day trapshooting has a dress code is the day I quit.

This isn't golf where you need to wear tan or white slacks with polyester polo shirts with a little alligator over your teat, a topless hat with only a bill, and white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Geez...the old timers in the early days of trap all had shirts and ties....now, the scruffier, the better. Consider the barbeque, mustard, ketchup, and coffee stains on the T shirts. Regards, Ed

    .

All the old vintage pictures of trap shooters show them wearing a suit & tie with a proper hat.

If you look at some of the old pictures, most wore a white t-shirt. In the 20's and 30's yes, neckties and jackets were standard, but after WWII, white t's ruled.

    Have Puablo post some pics.

BTW....flip flops rule when it's hot.

I'm ok with this,...but I do find the jewelery distracting.

I see nothing wrong with taking pride in who you are and the sport you like,My son was on a high school hockey team, on game nite they all had to wear a sport coat and tie. I noticed it gave all of them a lot more pride in themselves and the team. Mom always said its not a sin to be poor but you don't have to be dirty.
