I need to remove the oil from a MEC hydraulic system in order to ship it. Can someone tell the proper way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Wayne

I'm assuming you're talking about the pump, do the obvious, take the cap off and turn it upside down. Another option is to leave the oil in.

You could dicconnect the hose from the cylinder and turn the pump on, Step gently on the pedal and it will empty it's self in short order.

Is there a reason to empty the oil?

I figured that the shipper would probably turn the box upside down sometime during shipping and didn't want oil to leak out.
    Thanks for all your suggestions.

I had a used one shipped to me with oil in it; no problem. It was on its side in a plastic barrel designed for shipping things like pumps and did not leak a drop. Make sure all fitting holes are plugged tightly. The oil does add a small amount of weight.
