Just got my latest case of DRTGT-12 wads--the new color is now a dark green. The old ones I used were always very similar to the Remingtons in color. Just wondering are the wads I just got the real thing or a cheaper knockoff of the Downrange I always been using.

    Phil,

According to a friend of mine who sells these wads, its only a color change to differentiate the Downrange wad from the original Remington wad, and the Claybuster clone, both of which are a similar color.

    Phil,

If you want details, give Kevin Lewis a call. He actually answers his phone most of the time, and will call you back if he's busy.

    He's good people.

I recently bought a case of DR Jammer XL-1s and they are a darker purple color than the bag I had left from my last case. Just a production deviation, I'm sure.

Remington TGT-12s vary in their green color from lot to lot, too.

    Ed,

The new Downrange TGT-12 wads are dark green; essentially the same color as an STS hull.

I just bought a couple cases of new DR wads.

1oz Win clones are bright red and Fig 8 clones are bright orange.

I also have shot the purple and green XLs.

I love the bright colors and you can see them fly!

The TGT 12 wads I got directly from DR are the dark green color.

Be sure to get the DownRange product as it's better than the OEM's. They reload better and perform better. Dark Green to match the STS wads is the color.

My son is shooting doubles tonight and I loaded up shells with the new DR wads: The RED 1oz Win clone for first shot and ORANGE 1-1/8oz Fig8 clone for second shot.

He comes back from the line after first 50 and says.... "Man I love these red wads!"

I like them too - 7/8's are bright pink and the 1 oz. brite green. Yes - you can see them now and then flying...! The 7/8's can bee seen thru the hull wall of the AA light gray plastic.

This question came up on shotgun world a little while back.

Kevin indicated that is was for additional product differentiation from other similar clone wads.
