What is your preferred load / shot size for your second shot of doubles?

2 OZ of #6's should do the trick, and a table spoon of Blue dot.

I would recommend the same shell that you are comfortable using for 16 yard birds.

I have went to a 7/8 oz. load. My mec bar is a 7/8 oz. bar and use a #33 powder bushing with Clays powder. Use a gun club hull with a 1 oz. wad by WJ and Cheddite primer. Have been shooting over my average the last 500 doubles. It is fast enough to get to the second shot and makes soot balls on the first. It works so don't question the gr. of powder and the recoil is low. This is shot with 12 ga. MX10 Combo.

    I use 1 1/8 oz #8 @ 1145 fps (aka "light 8's").

Guess I'm the odd man here, I shoot a 1-oz handicap load at about 1250 fps with 8-1/2 shot

7/8 oz of 8 1/2's @ 1250fps for the first shot, 1 oz of 8's running the same speed for the second. It works good out of my slide gun.

    1, ounce, 2 3/4 dram, 8s or 7 1/2s, whichever I happen to have. Both shots.

2 3/4 (8's) for the first and 3dram (7.5's) for the second shot both 1 1/8oz of shot I would shoot 1 1/2 oz's if they let me.

2 3/4 # 7&1/2 The second shot in doubles is a slower target than singles [at least if set proper should be] Save your shoulder and face, 3dram really not needed.

My first shot is a 1oz loads of #8 16.5 grains of 700x 1185 FPS tried those on both however since I'm slow to get to the second bird those loads seem to only crack them instead of turning them to dust. So I developed a shell for my second shot. 1 1/8 oz of #7 1/2 17.5 grains of 700x 1200 FPS. Those have a greater kick than the first but will still smoke them sometimes 4 feet off the ground. My first shot is soft so the recoil doesn't affect my shooting so bad. This formula has worked well for me.

First shot 1 oz # 8, second shot 1 1/8 oz #8, both 2 3/4 dram. I like the Winchester 1 oz 8.5s, 2 3/4 dram for the first shot. I used them at the Grand in 2004 and hey just vaporized the target.
