I shoot trap pretty regular and keep about a 95 average so I feel comfortable with a shotgun. I took an o/u 20 ga out dove hunting yesterday and those birds made me Look Like I had never shot a shotgun in my Life. I think I killed 2 in 12 shots and quit and went home. Does everyone just have a bad day sometimes? I duck hunt and always shoot better than that. Next time I go Dove hunting I'm going to take my trap gun and see if it makes a difference.

Targetmaster?? Is that like going woodcock hunting and quitting because you shot 3 in a row so easily and then the next day burn a half box of shells and have only empty hulls for appetizers with the cocktail hour. LOL, Have fun,Bob

Only 12 shells for 2 doves?? They must have been the slow ones! The last time I hunted doves in Wyoming we took 4 boxes and hoped we got 10 or 15. Keep on shuckin' that Model 12!

No fighter pilot in the history of man, has a single thing over a dove.

I once seen a dove fly between my buddys legs while he was shooting AT it.

That's why it's called hunting. Next time go to a meat market.

I have it on good authority that doves have such sensitive hearing, that they can actually hear you press on the trigger. They've also been known to flip folks the bird as they dive away from missed shots.

Targetmaster, like yourself I'm a confident shot with a scatter gun. There are days that I can't miss and those when I can't hit a bull in the ass with a base fiddel. I sure can't figure it out but it happens more times thatn I care to admitt.

Go shoot a little skeet/sporting next time before you go out hunting. There is nothing funnier than a dyed in the wool trapshooter hunting birds. They have been shooting lollipops for so long, they forgot what an honest to god lead is.

For a variety of shoots, sporting clays it can humble an otherwise competent trap or skeet shooter.

    Targetmaster ,

If you can , shoot 5-Stand "from all over" ; wobble trap mostly from each side and try a low-gun start sitting on a dove-stool or bucket unless you plan to stand in cover .

If No wobble trap , shoot some skeet from each side (out past the trap houses) .

If you have a tower , use it to your best advantage(s).

    Good luck,
    Charlie
