I remember an old thread that went something like this:

“Don’t brag when you win and don’t whine when you lose. When you win, nobody wants to hear a twenty minute dissertation on how good you are. Likewise, shooters are not interested in listening to excuses when you don’t shoot well. It’s boring and no one is interested anyway."

    Any comments?

Braging and whining are just part of the game. I enjoy lisening to the excuses. And well! On braging: He who brags today will cry next weekend. Then you can rag on him.........

It definitely depends on the situation. When we are just having a fun round of trap with my team we will all talk big and brag when necessary, and spew out nonsensical excuses just for a good time. But when someone begins to become defensive about their excuses, or overly cocky then yes, there is no place for it and just shows the true colors of the individual.

I was shooting on a squad last season with an All American from Ohio. After the first 100 I was explaining the story of my great miss on the 99th target to him and the rest of the squad. He cut me off half way and said, "Shannon we know, we were there".

That kind of broke me of that.

    Thanks Carl,

    Shannon

I know I guy who won handicap champ at a state shoot back in '75. If I have heard that story (from him) once, I've heard it 100 times. Now I ask him that I heard he won that event, but I wonder if it's really true. Then he tells the story again and some others walk away. Cracks us up every time.
