Thanks for starting this thread Bryan it was great. If any of you are interested in more information about all the old westerns. The only thing missing was the great music. Try the link above .

They cover almost everything even some of the Western stars horses. It is interesting. BTW Bryan I do remember almost all of those cowboys.

    The old State Theater in Newark, DE...Saturday afternoons = 2 B-Westerns, 1 or 2 cartoons and a Serial...all for a quarter....it was good being a kid in the 50's.

Yes, I remember most of em. Wish they still made movies/tv shows like that today.

Did you notice the dates on a lot of those guys death? A lot of em died way too young, in their 40s and 50s.

Not to turn this thread into politics but when Reagan's picture came up... Well let's just say I wish we had a president like that today.

    Thanks for the post.

    Nice presentation. Thanks.

Alan Ladd played Shane. Jack Palance played Jack Wilson, the hired gunman. How many of you also recognized Emile Meyer as Rufus Ryker? (He was in the supporting actors gallery, but was lacking the beard he wore in Shane.)

I only remember maybe a third of the old serial western actors, most of the actors from the late 30's on, and nearly all of the supporting actors. As for the TV shows, I recall seeing maybe 2/3rds of them, but those prior to the mid-60's main as reruns.

Thank you for this trip in the past. On the other hand, I feel sad. I would turn back the clock 50 or 60 or more years except for modern medicine. I must tell you there is a certain ache in my heart for an earlier more innocent time. Maybe there are others who feel this way.

I met Leo Gordon (supporting actors' gallery, 1922-2000) when I was living in
California. When he told me he was in the movies, I said "I've never seen you"
and thought it was a "pick up" line. Then later on in the week I was watching
T,V., and there he was in the "Alaskans". After that I started looking for him
in the western movies and indeed he was a very popular character actor- usually
    played the bad guy....

I got quite a giggle over remembering that incident. Thanks for sharing.
