Actually, marriage is the main cause of divorce.

The national average is 50% failure rate. The number one cause of divorce is money and number 2 is infidelity by both men and women. Pretty sad actually.

Chickens coming home to roost, from the great social experiment of the 60's.

Single parent households do little to advance the cause of marriage. I just must be an old fuddy-duddy, married for 44 years. Not all good years, but we made them good.

If you make the damn promise, you should keep it.

    trapshootin hippie,

Are you sure about those figures? Seems to me that I'm hearing on the news about all the "same sexers" geting divorced as well. They had to make a big deal about getting married in the first place. Now they have to make big deal over getting divorced. Geez, where will it all end!

I feel sorry for the kids...in grade school here 65% of kids are from broken homes one way or another...what chance do the poor little blighters have of growing up socially balanced and adjusted. Chickens coming home to roost...reaping what you sew...and all that stuff. Still sad. Cheers-Graham.

Married fourty years and I guess you get through everything. Kids gone, house paid for, not much else but fooling around on the acreage. Shoot a little trap. garden, hunt, Notice I didn't say anything about sex.

    tripod,
I took "fooling around on the acreage" to mean wild, hot, monkey sex in the shelter-belt south of the house.....

I suspect that the devorce rate for trap shooters is lower than that of the general population. With an increase in women's education, I would think that their inclination to file devorce papers on a man who often carries a loaded gun would be reduced.
