Bring your Winter shooting clothes. January is windy and cold. No doubt about it. This is my 10th. Winter in FL.Also the drive will be at least 45 minutes. Route 60 to U.S. Highway 19 and the traffic lights. Then on to the road leading to the Silver Dollar which in itself is another 14 minutes. Then on to Patterson Road .

Be very careful driving in the area, especially on rte 19, Lots of blue hair auto-pilots.

The Holiday Inn Express in Oldsmar is a good place to stay and not far from the Dollar. Easy come easy go. Jake

The temps in the Tampa area for January are generally around 70 degrees for the average high and 50 degrees for the average low. Due to a breeze which is often present, it may feel several degrees colder, especially if you were expecting it to be 80 degrees and balmy.

If it drops down into the 50's (does happen) you will be thankful if you brought along your winter shooting jacket and heavy sweaters.

Jake gives correct and "good" reason to stay in OLDSMAR....Very close and easy drive to the Dollar and plenty of parking at the New Hotels. Park your car and walk to good restaurants. Stay away from rt19; a wild and crazy hiway!!!!! RUN'EM

Here are the directions to Silver Dollar from Tampa airport. (Map link above)

From the airport loop exit to Veterans Hwy. (north) Toll road. ($1.25) once on Veterans go to exit #10 Erlich Rd. turn left off the exit ramp onto Erlich and go 1/2 mile to "T" at Hwy. 582 or Gunn Hwy. turn right. Follow Gunn for 1/2 mile to the light at Mobley Rd. turn left. Go about 2.5 miles on Mobely to end at Racetrack Rd and turn right. Go 1 mile on Racetrack to Patterson Road and turn left. Proceed on Patterson 3 miles (approx.) to Silver Dollar. Should take you 25 minutes and you don't get anywhere near US-19. Oldsmar or Palm Harbor have numerous hotels, call the club and ask Bill Miller he'll know who has some good rates.

    See you there!
