I have been very happy with DISH. I like the guide format and the info. offered for each program is very informative. I have the DVR and HD and the ability to record multiple programs is also helpful. I wouldn't have anything else.

Play the game, go for who ever offers the best incentive and then switch in a year to the other for the same reason. In 2 years tell us who you like better. break-em all. Jeff

Royce above nailed it--I was told by a Comcast exec that old customers never get the latest tech advances--that's how they draw in the "new" ones. He advised the same thing- do your two yr contract and switch to a new one..
What was nice about Comcast was you always talked to a good solid English speaking tech support member...the other 2 route ya to the Phillipines or India. But comcast is EXPENSIVE. To me, Sports are fairly important along with auto racing, but I really enjoy the really old classic movies and the western channel. Never get tired of Lash, and Rex and Gene and...........

Had Direct first, Dish now. Can't tell much difference. Have had 5 different DVRs (since '05) since switching to Dish, but they replaced them all for free. Direct didn't have that problem, but that was back before they began offering DVRs.

Check out Costco, if you get Direct. In addition to the usual sales deals, I got a $50 Costco gift card and $200 rebate towards an HDTV. Billy

    Hey Frank.

You won`t miss your cable. Satellite picture and sound are superior to cable. Always has been. ( Dish or Directv )

It all depends on which channels are important to you.

I`ve had Direct for many years and am quite happy with it. Never had Dish so can`t comment on that.

    Regards, Pete

Direct the best for RV travel according to KVH satellite receiver due to satellite position. Dish has the crappiest "customer service" of any company I have ever dealt with. Would do without before using them again.

DirecTV has better sports packages and more high def channels. Outside of that both systems carry basically the same channels.

I have DirecTV and love it.

I've had both and prefer Direct. Having said that, when my contract runs out in about 10 months I'll give them one chance to match Dish then switch . Too bad both companies are so greedy that they are more interested in getting the new customer than in keeping the ones they have happy.
