A shotgun's action should be adequately lubricated. After a while this lube gets dirty and should be removed and replaced. I'd like to know what to use to remove this dirty grease, without risk of ruining the gun's wood and finish. Thanks.

Really. I mean really? The grease should be no where near the wood.

Non chlorinated brake cleaner to clean the gun. Lube the gun with Breakfree CLP.

Homemade Ed's Red. Use Q-Tips and old nylon bristle toothbrushes to scrub. I bought a cheap metal cake pan from the Dollar store to clean the receiver over. I also love Hoppes #9 Solvent. Mmmmmm can't beat that smell

I use three products to wash, clean & lube my break open shotguns.

    1) WD-40 to wash the actions & ejectors only.

2)Gunzilla to clean the barrel, remove dirt & waste from the receiver

    3) Super Lube grease for all the hinges & load bearing surfaces

Gunzilla in my opinion is the greatest commercial cleaner out there. I sent some to members our military overseas & they love it.

Any grease on a shotgun action should be removed and replaced daily. I even wipe it down and put new grease on while changing barrels during the day.

    Phil.....where do you get gunzilla?
