Hey NoHo guys, did the range make it through that Buckweed fire? Saw that it looked like the fire was in your canyon this morning.

Thanks for asking. San Francisquito Canyon was closed yesterday afternoon to evacuate the horse ranches -- just in case. To date, Monday, 11:14 AM Pacific Coast Time, there is no fire in San Fran. Canyon. We keep our range area VERY clear as we had a fire 5 years ago and lost our ranch house. The only things that can burn now are the power lines going into the range... all other power is below ground. The trap and skeet fields are all block with eith cement roofs or asphalt shingles. Maybe the restrooms could burn, but they survived the last fire. It is the damn wind at 30+mph that is a real pain. We did not open up Sunday due to the wind. Thanks for your concern. Fred

Thats good to hear that all is well. This morning I was watching the news and they showed a copter shot and said it was SanFran Canyon and i could see the river bed and it appeared there was spot fires backing up on both sides of the canyon. I know you guys do a good job of clearing the surroundings. It may not look pretty, but usually not-pretty doesn't burn real well..lol

In three hours the picture has changed. The main road, San Francisquito Canyon, is now on fire! The horse ranches and the new large houses have been evacuated and the fire troops are making their stand. The river is between the range and the fire and what ever was there five years ago was burned. The problem is the wind and embers. Hope the brush clearance was successful -- we have at least 100+ yards cleared. As you know the over hang is metal and cement area is surrounded by dirt. That is the problem "living" in a rural area in So. CA. Fred

Everything north of San Francisquito was ordered evacuated. There were plenty of resources fighting this fire UNTIL the Stevenson Ranch area drew away the resources due to their fire. There just are not enough resources to fight the fires. Fred

Hope it all passes for you, the range and other shooters in one of the 20 different wildfire areas around here. This is some seriously crazy stuff. Let us know how you guys faired after tonight and tomorrows winds. Here's hoping for the best.
