    Ned to vent.

I checked on Dick's Sporting Goods website this morning for shell prices.

They had Federal Top Guns (Pink) listed at $5.99 a box. The price did not say "online only."

My son and I went to the local store at iMd-Rivers Mall in St. Peters, MO.

There was approximately 6 flats worth of shells on the shelf and priced at $6.49/ box. We asked the associate if they honored the web price.

He said, " No. We do not honor prices from the Dick's website. I explained that the price quoted was not "online only." He said, " Doesn't matter. We do not honor the website price."

Never again will I darken the door to a Dick's store.

The reason it didn't say "online only" is because Dicks doesn't sell guns or ammo online. The ads on their website for guns and ammo are usually copies of their in-store flyers - a stack of which were probably sitting by the door
    when you entered the store.

You dealt with a stupid salesperson, and you should have asked to see the manager. Dick doesnt' "suck." They are one of the few places you can buy
target ammo at a reasonable price.

    ( No, we're not related)

Posted price at the shelves could of been wrong.

I've had several visits to DICKS where I had the sales person SCAN the ammunition at the shelves, as the sales price I saw either on line or in flyer was not what was posted.

Every time, the price marked at the shelves were wrong!

By the way, had the same think happen at Walmart on Black Friday for value packs. Sales price was not posted. I grabbed a package and scanned it and the sales price came up. Bought all they had.....

After watching them build the store and waiting for it to open, a new Dick's open in Dublin CA - the first in the SF East Bay. So we went to check it out.

Underwhelmed to say the least - expensive high end clothing/sporting goods, some high priced shotguns, rifles and a poor selection of ammo. No reloading stuff.

If you are online viewing the weekly ad's make sure ad is for the location you are going to. The ad for stores in one state or part of one state may be different than some other state. Once you select a store it should stay selected but at the bottom of the screen when viewing the weekly ad's there is a store location and you may have to change it. Sometimes a store is a week ahead or behind.

they are not responsive to their customers. The local one never has enough merchandise to cover an ad. The response is always we don't order the computer does. I once said if every ammo ad you run out the first day and do not get any for 3-4 days how can the computer no what potential was lost. These clerks get the same per hour rate. Someone should find out who in that company makes bonus based on sales, that's who I want to talk to.

I'm with dickgtax. True, the sales clerks are not profoundly knowledgeable, but that is typical of "mass merchandizing". However, they have always been friendly to me, and willing to scan boxes to determine the "register price". And as dickgtax said, if it weren't for Dick's, it would be inconvenient and more expensive for me to buy target ammo.

(I don't have a stake in the place either).

OK I will go along with that

I went to our local store after seeing an ad for Win-AA $59 a flat, rebate, rebate

After looking the shelf over I saw nothing but hi end pheasant loads and 2 boxes of 1300 something 71/2

I ask the guy tending the sports counter if he had any shells based on the ad?

Nope just what you see on the shelf. are you sure and if so when did they have a run, sale starts today and its 10:30am

1000% sure I am the sports section manager,

    OK just not my day,

on the way out I am looking at golf clubs and speaking with the sales guy in that area ,

we spoke casually for a moment and turns out he is a avid DU member and cant believe they sold all those shells

Just so happens he was in the back this morning about 9:00 and watched them bring in a 20 flats

went to the back with me walked around the counter opened the cabinet and guess what ?

8 flats of #8 and 12 flats of # 71/2 with a pink sticky note hold for #@!***

    guess who #@!*** is

#@!*** comes walking up and guess what. he was holding for a good customer who usually gets them

I told him that's fine with me,

will be a cold day before u see me or mine at DICKS

The one in our burg never has a complete flat (10 boxes) of any trap load. Either that or I always show up on the wrong day.

5 or 6 years ago I got a rain check for 100 boxes of Rem. STS @ $4.99/box. Every time I went to check, they never had more than 15 or 20 boxes. Several months ago I asked to see the Sporting goods manager to ask how can I redeem my coupon when they never have enough boxes. He said that's the way corporate orders things but he offered to sell me what they had at the rain check price. I took 19 boxes @$4.99. I can't bitch too much about that. Larry

We have four Dick's in my immediate area. I have noticed that there seems to be a difference based on management. One is really not too bad. The one closest to me is really the pits and the other two are okay sometimes.

I find I can still buy shells at the Silver Dollar, day in and day out, at the same price or cheaper than the Dick's closest to me. They never have any of the shells listed in their sales flyer. And, the young men in the Sporting Goods sections seem to have no interest in anything but fishing gear.

The one farthest from me has, most of the time, some shells as listed in the sales flyer and the guys in that Sporting Goods section seem to know what they are doing when it comes to firearms and accessories including shells. But, it's the farthest one and inconvenient to travel there especially during the tourist season.

The other two are hit and miss-mostly miss.

When Cabelas has a sale, I often buy 10 or so flats with free shipping using my Cableas card and that usually beats the Dollar's prices, but only on sale items three or four times a year.

Tiny Dick Sporting goods always makes it hard for you to get them to honor their deals, which after all are just bait to get you in for a nice helping of Spandex and Nike.

Sometimes I go the extra mile to get them to comply, and I love sticking it to them. Once we bought about 15 flats of 410's because they were not excluded from the sale price, which was about 4.50 a box.
