Yet another example of an out of control, incompetent, government agency with mindless thugs running amok.

You know I'm not sure we can win the war on stupidity, at one time I thought it was possible, but everyday I see stuff that makes it seem more out of reach

Gene, let's look at the facts.

    The form was incorrect.

The boat owner knew the form was incorrect.

The form contained a statement that by signing he was affirming the facts were correct.

Thus, if he signed the form, he would be lying.

Lying on a federal form or document is a federal crime, and also risks forfeiture of the asset in question, in this case the boat.

So, as a supposed "lawyer", are you saying you would have your client sign the form anyway?

And for the rest of you, the ones with a brain, here's the latest update. He got his boat, but someone from DHS got bent out of shape and wrote a nasty comment on his blog.

Maybe the truth was twisted on both sides. Is that possible? After all you are believing what one person is telling, about both sides of the information.

I would take the citizen bloggers word over some government schmucks any day. All this entertainment coming from DHS over some woman that is too dumb to figure out that the website XE.com would do the money conversion for her. Laughable.

Chuckie, U.S. Customs is the oldest federal law enforcement agency in the Unitied States. Some U.S. Marshals and Postal Inspectors will argue differently, but regardless, it has been in existence for over 230 years. You can thank George W. for moving it from the Treasury Dept. to DHS.
