    Chugiakshooter,

    1926 or 1927.

Does the barrel have a 2 letter date code on it, and does the serial number on the barrel ring match the gun?

Well, I thought I had it down some where, but I can't find it. I even looked in "Remington" ,,,but nothing. They were made from 1905 to 1922. Mine is a made in 1915, and is no. 180400, with all matching ser. no.s (original and it shows it). Sorry I could not be of more help.

Should be below and forward of your choke stamp.

    Should X "S" or "T", where X is December "25" or "26". More than likely '25.

The lug that goes over the magazine tube should be stamped on the underside of the bracket that is soldered to the gun.

The Remington M11 was made from 1905 to 1948, when it was replaced by the Remington 11-48, the same Browning long-recoil system but in a rounded back to replace the old "hump-back" receiver. They also went in that model from all-machined parts to mostly stampings and few machined parts. I have three of them, one is the M11 standard, a second is the Sportsman or 3-shot model. The third is a Browning "American", made during the period 1938 - ca. 1948 when the FN factory making Brownings converted to all-military production and then was overrun by the Nazis, until FN was back up and running around 1948 - 1949. It is the Remington M11 equipped with a magazine cutoff which the A-5 had but the M11 didn't. It has all Browning markings and logos but the wording is different from Browning-made A-5s. I read once where the Browning "American" is the only Browning-marked sporting firearm ever made in the U.S. but haven't found anyone who can confirm this.
