So you would think that with all the technology and internet and what not around today, that it wouldn't be hard for a moronic 17 year old kid to figure out how to tie a tie! (A Full Windsor Knot of course!) Yet I have been trying for the past 2 hours, looking at countless diagrams and videos (yes, all about tying ties) to no avail! Give me a history and a calculous test, maybe even a little bit of chemistry and a 10 page English Essay over this crap! Wide side over the narrow, then bring it around on top, then something to the right and something to the left and through the loop that you made with your bridged hand? THIS SUCKS! I'm going to wallow in my self-pity for now, just needed to express my emotion towards the group of guys who love me most!

A half windsor is less than half as hard to tie and looks better.

As a Cub Scout, I had to learn (and demonstrate) how to tie a tie to earn my Wolf Badge.

    I was seven years old.

Way to go Trappy, you're actually living up to your posts.

It seams interesting that someone who has 'all the answers' lacks one of the basic skills of civilized existence...

My dad taught me how to tie a tie knot when I was about Trappy's age.

Windsor knots are easy (both double and single.)

Try getting a friggin bow tie right. Now THERE's a challenge.

My dad showed me how to tie ties when I was in my early teens. Now, almost 40 years later, I'm showing him. He is 84 and has alzhiemers.

I see you've already had your s**t jumped so I'll refrain from piling on.

Like all things in life a little practice and patience brings rewards - learning to tie a full or half windsor will add to your body of knowledge and make you look pretty swell in a sportscoat and dress shirt. Pride in your appearance is to be commended so stick with it.

Of course the opposite is also true, nothing looks worse than a poorly dressed tie, it screams out look at how slovenly I am and I could care less about my appearance.

After you're done working on your tie go spit shine your shoes and get yourself squared away.

My kid is AFJROTC and looks like a million bucks on the days he has to wear uniform. A chest full of ribbons and medals, a regulation haircut, creases that could cut a loaf of bread, shoes that are shined the old fashioned way.

None of that is worth one grade point but his self image is worth everything.
