Had a thread on here about a month ago about my fear of having a cystosocpy exam and people asked for an update...

Well, ended up not having the exam. Tumor showed up on CT. 80% chance it's cancer. Surgery this coming Thursday.

This should be an interesting journey...

If, this is going to be a re-section only, it's no big deal. You may, go home after you wake up w/a tube an bag. At most you'll stay in the hospital over night, unless there's hitch in the gitty up.

Good luck friend. They thought I had a tumor in my bladder after my cisto and scraped it out. They said no cancer. Whew! A couple months later the symptoms came back. Another cisto (love them things) and another "Tumor" appeared next to the last job. Hey wait a minute here guys. They eventually found an abcess in my colon from diverticulitis trying to eat into my bladder. A large section of colon removed after months of trying to kill it with anti-biotics.I had a cath installed twice in those months. The last one I removed myself with the Doc. walking me through it on the phone, what a treat! LOL- I miss not having to get up in the middle of the night though.

Well, my small (9mm) tumor did turn out to be cancer. Low grade, non invasive.

Now I'm faced with a very rude (my wife's term) exam every three months. They use NO anesthesia, except for some useless lidocaine jel. I've called around to several different urologists and they all do it the same way. In the office for maximum insurance payment to the doctor and no anesthesia to keep the exam cheap and quick. I think this is just so barbaric.

Don't you just love the system...

    Quit yer bitchin!

That is the way it is done.

Friend went thru that at a VA hospital. Siad after a few times, it gets stretched and hardly any pain.

Every six months they went in and scraped out the tumors.
    His comment :

    1. Been cancer free for a year now.

    2. Can pee like a fire hose now.

Had a huge battle with the Doctor/Hospital. I won. It's off to the OR for drugs every time I have the exam. I've had two, nothing so far.

    Insurance covers it 100%

    Cap,

Not sure what your Doc does to you, just had my third Cystoscopy in the last 6 months, and I have had haircuts take longer and more pain than any of these procedures.

Here downunder it's a very painless procedure, I said to my Doc any more of this in the near future and I would consider we are going steady, the two nurses in the surgery with us thought it was funny but he did not.

    Release Trigger.....................

There are things other than physical pain...

Been clean for about a year now. Exams have been changed to every six months from every three months. Still being done in the OR...
