Lots of people can make pretty stocks, but if you want a stock that will fit & work for you as well as be beautiful---go to the person who wrote the book---Dennis DeVault.

There are only two in my book, Phil Simms and Dennis DeVault (and crew). Depends on what you are looking for as to which one is better suited for the job.

They both do world class work and their work has graced this forum for quite some time.

Chris Vendel at CRV Custom Arms would be my first choice. Being a shooter, he understands gun fit better than anyone else. His Email is CRVCustomArms @Yahoo.com, phone is 595-730-8166. Located in Rochester, NY.

PFS. I don't care what it looks like. They work better than any stock I've ever had.

I am sure all mentioned above will do a fine job. If you want "the best" in both beauty and fit, my money is with Dennis Devault.

I have never had or held a Dennis DeVault stock but so, so many trapshooters seem to love his work and his fitting abilities.

Those that I have seen aren't my preferred aesthetic style, but I'm primarily a skeet/SC shooter and I would expect differences between the disciplines.

I have held and shot a number of Paul Hilmer stocks and can say that he is completely top drawer.

I have seen and shot a couple of guns with stocks made by Montana Custom Guns and they were fabulous. I believe that John Reese does some/most of their checkering for them and I have commissioned work from John and it was flawless.

Then there is Wenig, they are perhaps a bit more of a production house for custom stocks than the smaller outfits, but you can get good fit and finish for decent money and turn around time.

Tom Smith of Weston,Ohio takes a back seat to none. Tom is a highly experienced shooter in all the clay sports. He fits the individual to his discipline. You won't go wrong with Tom! Clyde D
