Creating grain and figure in a stock blank

    This webpage has some very interesting illustrations (and beautiful pictures) of the grain and figure that results from cutting stock blanks out of a log in different ways:

    It also explains why cutting a log in the normal sawmill manner won't give you very good stock blanks.

    Ted, that is "Gordy Bunyon's" website. He used to post here a lot selling blanks until he got pissed off and left.

    Gordy is a really super guy too. It is a shame soem felt the need to run him off. Always posted some beautiful blanks and some really good knowledge about wood.
