This is more made up BS

Learn to think for yourselves and stop wearing your tin foil hats and slobbering at each full mooon.

Now yes there is probably a prohibition for in an organized and rank structured organization against trying to "convert" someone. That would be abusive to the extreme and the opposite of religious freedom

Again- learn to use your own thought process and brain rather than following the thoughts of some whack job who makes this stuff up.

    Regards from Iowa

Catpower- this has nothing to do with Obama

Cant you reason? You think the President of the United States gets into day by day discipline of service members?

And you cant see why it is wrong to try to "convert" someone in a military environment? You are blind buddy. Blind.

Try coming out in the daylight for a change

    Regards from Iowa

You guys - can you think

    Two scenarios

    1. Squad leader ( who is some holly roller) says to his squad- morning formation- lets talk about the value of you all converting to holly rollers- and this goes on each day- maybe several times a day. You dont see a problem with that? Not a violation of freedom of religion?

    2. Squad leader in combat theatre of operations. "ok guys- we are going to go and convert the population from muslim to holly roller. Is everyone clear on what the mission is?"

No it isnt right to use military authority to try to get someone to convert their religious beliefs

    Regards from Iowa

    Gene,

This was totally unnecessary. Anyone who has had Christian religious training knows that being exampliary in your behavior and praying silently is how Christians convert so they don't have to blabber all over the place unlike some other hard sell beliefs. When Christians speak amongst themselves, you can choose to not listen and leave. No one will lop your head off.

This was a strike against Christians and compatibles.

    rpeerless-- I hope you are joking but if you arent or if others believe that;

Oh really- you just rewrote 2100 years of history and not to mention recent history

So that is why people came to America huh? Because they werent persecuted by Christians religiously- heads were not lopped off- people werent drawn and quartedered? Starved? Burned at the stake?

The Jews didnt really die in WWII over religion?

We dont have that [protection of Religion in the Constitution for a reason?

Forgive and forget. Sins are forgiven by some, others thirst for revenge is never quenched for 2100 years; kill again and again for the same offenses. Is it?

Christians are taught that guilt errodes the soul. If you make a mistake and recognize it as such you are forgiven and must repent and move on. You know that slogan. Move on...

People didn't come to America to be taken over by an imported foreign belief and political system.

Frankly I've had enough of you, 7777. You just don't get it. You aspire to what?

I understand the progressive mind set, have had long and interesting discussions with progressives, you however do not fit the bill.

    Ludicrious Speed.

Employers can not discriminate for race, creed or religion but the military can?
The court martial if applied should not single out one creed or the other.

    F. Lee Ermey, my hero. The Jews died because of their religion, not for it.

This whole thing stems from a problem they think they had at the AF academy in CO. A fairly large group of evangelical Christians met regularly. It included a fair number of officers who taught at the school. There was a charge, unproven, that there was favoritism being practiced along with open bias toward Christians. The order was given to stand down and to stop holding evangelical meetings outside of chapel. There was a lot more to it but that's the gist. From there it became an issue service wide.

I don't know where it came from but I heard it years ago, probably from WWII.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

    Gene,
This is from an old document that is not used anymore. It is called the U.S. Constitution.. Please read and show me where it separates church and state and bans an individual of any religion from practicing their faith?

As for me, I always looked forward to a visit from a "Sky Pilot", especially in the bush.

Van they can participate in their religion in the military as you know but they cant try to convert someone.

Likewise we have changed denominational chapes to non demoninational. So as not to favor one religion using a building over another

The issue here is a group of people trying to force their religion on others

The devil is in the detail -- ( possibly a very appropriate statement here)
