    .

Does anyone have an instant way to count out 25 loose shells to place in a vest or belt pouch without boxing them ?

Want to get out of the shell boxing process.

    Boxing shells is currently inefficient.

I like to count them out by 2's. You know, 2,4,6,8 and so on. It's just faster than saying 1,2,3,4...etc. The problem is that I go out on the field with either 24 or 26 rounds of ammo, so I've been thinking about going back to my older, but more reliable method of just counting 1,2,3,4 and so on and so forth.

    2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3 !

put 100 shells in a box and weigh them. Then divide into 4 piles.

I have seen shooter bring their shells to the range in a 5 gallon bucket. They just grab a couple hands full of shells and put in their shooting vest and they are ready to shoot. What does it matter if they grab 25 or 35 shells. Will have extras if they need them. I think that is the way to go if you do not want to box the shells. Tom

I hate to shoot with guys who DON'T box their shells. They never know how many targets are left at any station and are always putting in a new shell when it is time to move.

I've used clear sandwich zip lock bags for years. 25 for the line and 50 for Doubles. If you shoot several loads you can see the hull color....... works well for us.

I agree with birdogs. Too many times I've had to tell the guy next to me to unload his gun because it's time to move.

Birdogs, Who cares how many targets are left at a station, unless you are the first shooter? When everyone else moves, just move with em. How long does it hold up the squad for a person to take a shell out before moving? My mind is on breaking targets, not counting shots fired, that's the scorekeepers job.

I wear a vest and dump the box of shells in the left front pocket. When I start a station, I move 5 shells to the right front pocket. I pull from that pocket, and shoot those 5 shells, then move 5 more left to right as I change stations. Hulls go in the back. You could start with more in the left pocket, if you aren't boxing or counting shells. Mark

I use a counter to count the 25 and then into a zip lock.

Barb takes care of my administrative details, and I just shoot the targets... or not.

Um, Tron, this is a serious discussion....you get a time out....go stand in the corner.

Hey Tom: Good shooting at the zone :)

I will have to give credit where credit is due. It isn't my idea, Daro Handy taught that to me, and he has been shooting longer than dirt. Mark
