SCOTT K did you get your new continus running shot maker finished? it was to be a take off os jim101 desine. i am working on one like his hope to have it running in a week or two. getting the metal shaped right with the hole out the bottom is fun. did not make ant changes from his , just mine is noe as nice looking. does any one else have one up and running and have pictures to show? i know himark has i nice contined unit. i did not have the space but do like his desine. has any one used a 3/16 screen close to the bottom to catch the sometimes big chuncks ? they might stop up the hole in the bottom. my pot will put out some at first till it gets hot enugh to run good. thanks charles

686, There is a post on here with a guy that had a batch machine built on the platform of a 55 gallon drum. This could easily be made to be a continuous run machine for a single ladel. Sorry no link but its here.

i test ran my continous shot maker last night. not making shot just running the liquid. i keep the over flow pipe 1 1/2 below the top of the tank just to make sure i did not get a mess. i did hand pour some shot in to see it function. here is the probulms i came up with. the drain chute, the 4in pvc pipe under the tank was not steep enugh for the shoot to roll down the chute. i have to slope it down more. next my pump would not fill the tank up to the over flow. it would pump up about 6 in. i first thought the hole was to big, but if it were the case the coolent would all run out and not have any level in the tank. i now think the pump can not pump up that hight, about 4 ft. tonight i will plug up the hole first to see if it will pump the tank full. if that does not work i will rase the bucket up a foot to see if it is the pump not working that distance. i know it could be a combation of the hole to big and the pump not lifting. i have a 3/8 in hole in the bottom. this may help some one else in making one. all help welcome. charles

640GPH pump will fix that. As for the steepness of the ramp shot will roll down a dry ramp easier than wet. I pull the shot down the ramp into the bucket when it fills up. this was actually a mistake but hind sight was a better design. It allows you time to pull out bucket and wash then come back.

HIMARK if i were using a big box like you i would not have made a mess on the floor. i found out my pump was mot big enugh for the size hole in my coolent tank. i have a plastic tube coming out of the tank at the bottom, i pinched it off a little with a clamp. the pump would then fill the tank. i had my over flow pipe a little to hi. got a over flow on the floor. i fixed it. i sloped my chute more for the shot to run down better, it still needs a little twicking.every thing looked ok so i turned on the laddle. i was going to run it maybe 10 min but it was doing good so i ran it about 45 min untill the phone rang. took my eyes of it lead got to low , put out chuncks, stoped up drain tube, opened it up, got to loe with the coolent, clamped it off again this time to tight, will i stoped. there is one heck of a balancing act. JIM101 AND HIMARK what problums did you over come and how? this is a lots of work in progress. thanks charles

    Problems to overcome???hmmmmm,

Three phase power in our building

pump flow to slow,, got bigger pump and had same problem you have. Made bigger hole now no chunks get stuck except the monsters and have tool handy to unplug.

Now thermal overload switch in pumps going bad..need high temp industrial pump.

chitty lead from unknown sources coming in.

Jims machine had a sharp edge on lip causing flat spots...few seconds with a file fixed that.

1250 burners wont keep up with doubles.

You are TOTALLY correct by using the term "Balancing" cause that is what it takes to make good shot but I will say once you have the hang of it...keeping a level temp with a good flow you will go for hours making beautiful shot and it is very satisfying having people say how nice it looks.

i have been makibg good shot, 9s 8s and 7 1/2 .the longest time was 6 hrs one time. i have been using a little basket in the tank and taking it out with apx. 10 lbs about every 6 min. the 7 1/2 shot would lower the coolent 3/4 in and it took 30-45 sec. to replace and add more coolent to bring it back up to level. while doing so the shot was not as good, and i got to shoot it. i want to get a continous running shot maker going so i do not have that problum. what type of pump are you using now? how many gph? sold 500 lbs sunday and only got 150 lbs in exchange. by the time i pay for all my equiment and put 80 bags up for i will be out of lead. at least i will be making it fast and having fun. do you have more pictures of your tank?
