There always have been those few who have launched diatribes over the dictatorial actions of any given U.S. presidential administration, over civil rights, foreign affairs, the economy, the draft or a dozen other topics – even though the Constitution was written specifically to prevent the collection of too much power by one branch of government.

Now, again, there are words like “egocentric megalomaniac” being ascribed to the White House, and warnings about detention camps and government surveillance of its citizens.

billygraham.org/I-am-a-ChristianBut where previous generations of warnings emanated from lone wolves with their fax machines in dusty spare rooms, the current alarms are being issued by the likes of Investors Business Daily, First Amendment authority Nat Hentoff, New York Times best-selling author Robert Ringer and their equals.

“A second term free of electoral restraints [for Obama] may be a frightening prospect,” IBD wrote in a commentary in the last week. “This is, after all, a president who has said he can’t wait for Congress to act and will govern by executive order and regulations if necessary. He has questioned the Supreme Court’s ‘unprecedented’ review of Obamacare.”

If Americans were so foolish as to have elected this man President the first time after his blatants diatribes against this country and his speeches praising those who have pledged to destroy us, why would anyone expect that he will not be elected again? Are Americans special fools or just the "run of the mill" variety? Perhaps neither - maybe both!

Jefferson's admonition about the people voting themselves benefits fron the public treasury has been realized with predictable outcome. History has demonstrated that democracies endure for about 200+ years and what bring them down is just what Jefferson warned about. America is merely proving Jefferson's axiom to be true.

This being the case, America's demise is inevitable and immanent. If the governing class is not able to pull back spending although they know for a certainty that the country cannot survive such expenditures, AMERICA IS OVER!

It gives me no pleasure to say so but history has proven Jefferson right and what will happen in the near future will punctuate it. There is still the narrowest of chances but the ONLY thing which can save us is a clean sweep of the Legislative and Executive branches in the November election and a new paradigm of taxation and expemditures in keeping with fiscal and social sanity. What are the chances of that?
