Went to get the mail today(had hospital time on Sat.)and the new average cards were there along with a white envelope from the ATA. Inside the envelope was a AA27AA pin for my oldest son Zac.!! I knew he had shot well last season but I did not know how well. Anyhow I think that is just great!! Good shooting CUPCAKE !!! Ed Saneholtz

    Congrats!

What is the pin for though? I'm not very familiar with ATA stuff yet.

    Rich219:

There are several metal pins (think hat pin) that are awarded by the ATA. One of them is for folks who complete a full target year with double A averages in doubles and singles and finish the year on the 27 yard line.

A person receives a AA27AA pin the first year they qualify. Subsequent years are good for an attaboy but no additional pin.

PS: A friend who earned one after several years of shooting remarked that his cost him about $50K, LOL.

    Edited addition to cupcake:

Congrats and good on you. That's darn fine shooting!

Rich, the first year you maintain a AA average in singles and doubles, and still shoot good enough to stay on the 27 yard line without a reduction, you qualify for the famous AA27AA pin. There is a specific quantity of birds that you have to shoot. I'm not sure what it is, but it is noteworthy feat.

Ain't that just the "iceing" on the "cupcake"! Good shooting Zac.

You ought to try shooting with the clan. If you miss a target you feel like you should go hide. The last time I shot with them there were only 4 misses on the whole squad and 1 or 2 of them were mine, 496/500.
