Would like to hear your thoughts on what is the thinnest, lightest, .45 ACP carry gun. Thanks. cls

    Take a look at the Springfield Armory XD-S, 1" wide, 21.5 oz, 5 + 1

Odd that the gun says "Springfield Armory USA" on one side and "Made In Croatia" on the other.

An M&P45C, if you can find one.

It's a little bigger than the XD-S, but there are more aftermarket options.

Dan, nice..! Had not seen this before. Thanks. oz, I saw the Doubletap, quite a piece for sure. But more of a backup, last resort sort of gun. Not really what I'm looking for. Cool .45 though, thanks. cls

Check out the Heckler & Koch 45 Compact. If I could legally carry here in Illinois, It'd be my choice.

    Gene,

Why did the US Marines go with the Colt M1911A1 last month instead of going with the H&K 45C? Just wondering?

I'm like you and thought the H&K would be the top of the line until I saw the Colt re-enter the scene.

Have you considered the Glock Model 36?

Steve, I had one. Was a handful for sure. End up selling it. Heard bad things about Glocks in .45 ACP. Lack of a full surround chamber. I have a Kimber CDP II also, and a full sized Springfield XD, both of which are just a little large for most occasions. Thanks… cls

It didn't hurt that the President of Colt is a retired Marine
General. Guess he still has the right contacts in Washington.

I have a Ruger P345. It may be a little big for CC but I like it.

You'll have to ask the Marines. I know what I like and I like my HK 45C. If I can put 10 rounds in a 2-3" circle at 21', I'm a happy guy. When I can put 9-10 rds on a 12" plate at 75', I'm also a happy shooter. Did that today with my HK 45C.

There are several Specs Ops people who like the HK.

In a .45 acp semi auto I have many but as far as daily carry the 2 that work best for me and fit three major criteria of reliabiliy, ease of carry and accuracy I carry a Colt Lightweight Commander in a Galco Summer special holster(Your carry leather is just as important as what you are going to carry)The Colt was reliable right out of the box with ball and Fed. hydra shok ammo. The other is a Para Ord. P-12 customized by Novaks Custom Shop.Super reliable and very accurate.I have a Colt Defender in 9mm and it is a nice carry also as it is very light and in a Summer Special Galco is easy to carry all day.It too was reliable and accurate out of the box.George

I carry my CDP II in a Milt Sparks IWB. They don't come much better (IMO). cls
