I think this picture, taken in what was Eastern Germany, says more than a thousand words could ever say about the defeat of communism by capitalism.

"looks like the next pres WILL be a socialist."

Thank goodness. Do you have any idea how much the "privatized capitalists" have stolen from us in Iraq? Would you believe that 266 tons...TONS...of $100 bills were airlifted to Iraq, and have disappeared, along with 100,000 weapons? Check it out.

The Democrats embraced socialism going back some 75 years ago with The New Deal, CCC work camps, Social Security, etc. It's been their core belief, right up to the failed Great Society and beyond. It's on the brink of being bankruptcy now, and it will bankrupt this country once universal health care is implemented.

It's also interesting that the left is embracing their more radical leftists, like John Kerry. He's often more left than Ted Kennedy. I have no doubt that if the Communist Party was a viable third party with the ability to equally take on the DNC or GOP, that the DNC would lose many of their more radical members.

BTW, do you know the real difference between fascism and communism?

Fascism is a country run by a dictator.

Communism is a country run by a committee of dictators.

This country is already bankrupt, with the largest trade deficits and the largest budget deficits in our history. Foreigners, especialy China, hold trillions of dollars of our debt, and our deficits are continuing to the tune of $600 billion this year alone.

Do you know the size of our national debt? Look it up, then come on back and tell us how it will be paid. You can't, but I will. Our standard of living will decline to something like Nigeria's, that's how.

Why? Tax cuts for the rich, a war we are paying for by putting it on our credit card. Oil is $80/barrel, the US dollar has declined 40% against the Euro.

Thanks to george w. bush and the neocons, we are bankrupt.

Hillary is awful, but anyone is better than Bush. And I mean anyone.

    Grammie for President!!!

smokerz your whole post is wrong. China holds a single digit percentage of our national debt. US citizens hold over 80%. We are, in effect in debt to ourselves. Our national debt as a percentage of our GDP is at historic lows. Go look it up and cure your ignorance.

    from wikipedia...

A traditional defense of the national debt is that we "owe the debt to ourselves", which is overhwhelmingly true, since US debt in the hands of foreigners is only 25% of the total and declining. [25] U.S. Treasury statistics indicate that, at the end of 2006, foreigners held 44% of federal debt held by the public.[26] About 66% of that 44% was held by the central banks of other countries, in particular the central banks of Japan and China. In total, lenders from Japan and China held 47% of the foreign-owned debt.[27] Some argue this exposes the United States to potential financial or political risk that either banks will stop buying Treasury securities or start selling them heavily. In fact, the debt held by Japan reached a maximum in August of 2004 and has fallen nearly 3% since then.[28]

Last year, the central banks of Italy, Russia, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates announced they would reduce their dollar holdings slightly, with Sweden moving from a 90% dollar based foreign reserve to 85%. [29] On May 20, 2007, Kuwait discontinued pegging its currency exclulsively to the dollar preferring to use the dollar in a basket of currencies.[30] Syria made a similar announcement on June 4th, 2007.[31]

In retrospect, the Cold War appears to have been fought to allow western corporations access to Russian markets.

From the photo, it looks like we won.

We weren't fighting to end the exploitation of communist workers; we were fighting for the ability of our corporations to participate in it.

However, I'm not jumping up and down...Russia just resumed long-range bomber flights, financed by windfall oil profits...so it looks like they didn't make out too bad on the deal either.

Everything old is new again...with any luck, my three-year-old will be witnessing Caspar Weinberger-esque saber-rattling with the Russkies when he's 16, just like I did.

No smokerz, just go googling and you will find confirmation of a lot of the wikipedia entry. I was only off by 5% on the total amount of foreign owned debt and China only holds $405 billion, not trillions and the $405 billion represents less than 5% of our total debt.

Go look here. http://www.treasury.gov/tic/mfh.txt or remain ignorant.

Just about all large companies went to the Karl Marx economics. That is what has been taught to our young people in business college. If you have noticed in many companies the people in control have not a clue on how to run any manufactruing but want the workers put out more with less. Its called Lean Manufacturing, which is another term for CHEAP products not quality.

Darn now I got to get rid of some lead I have been sitting on. My outlet does not want anymore for their paint. I hope I can get rid of it before the bottom falls out. I've got time cause their are two many dumbasses out their that will not catch on.

***smokerz your whole post is wrong. China holds a single digit percentage of our national debt. US citizens hold over 80%.***

Really? Where was I wrong? I said "This country is already bankrupt, with the largest trade deficits and the largest budget deficits in our history. Foreigners, especialy China, hold trillions of dollars of our debt, and our deficits are continuing to the tune of $600 billion this year alone."

Our national debt is $9 trillion. Fact. Foreigners hold nearly $3 trillion. Fact. The Chinese and Japanese are the largest foreign holders of our debt. Fact. US citizens do not hold 80%, they hold 28%. Fact. Foreigners hold 27%. Fact.

    Here, look for yourself. http://www.optimist123.com/optimist/2007/08/an-800-billion-.html

Where is my statement wrong? Your "facts" are imaginary BS.

And I ask you once again, "How will we repay that $9 trillion?" What's your answer? More tax cuts for the rich? More foolish spending on foolish wars? More bridges to nowhere?
