Can you give me the names and addresses of any shops in and around the area. Doesn't have to be a big shop or a trap shop. Pawn shop that sell are ok to list also. Thanks,Richard
Thank to all that responded here and the PMs. I will be up that way (Columbus) with some time to kill and thought I would shop around for a .22 Revolver. Richard
Ouch I am sure that somebody might be better informed in this than me, but at one time to purchase a handgun in Columbus you had to have a permit or special purchase paper from either the city or cops or something silly like that. If you have time swing up to black wing in Delaware they had a good selection of hand guns, and a little less trouble in the purchase I am sure!!
Vance's is not in Columbus -- just over the line. They have an excellent selection of hand guns and are worth a stop. They at 3723 Cleveland Ave, just south of Morris Road. Phone number is: 614-471-7000. They are closed Sundays and Mondays.
On our way to Greenfield we go past a big one in Lancaster, but have never stopped. It's not that far from Columbus, and I'd bet, time wise, it could end up being about the same. We also pass a small one, East of Chilicothe on RT50, but they are never open when we pass. You know, of course, that Dave & Doug Wolk, at SGC have their shop, just south of Columbus, and have a huge stock of great trapguns. good luck....mike
OOPS: I inadvertently changed the name of the Wolk's place of business. The correct name is SGS (Shotgun Specialties) and they're in Hamilton, Ohio. (800) 344-7468. Check their hours because they do a lot of shoots. (sorry I messed up the name, Dave)
These guys are terrific.....you might even find an old Kolar at their shop (grin) all the best....mike
Shotgun Specialties is in Hamilton. Hamilton is not close to Columbus -- it's about 2 hours away by car. Hamilton is just north of Cincinnati and about 45 - 50 minutes south of Dayton.
FYI, Black Wing lost only some used guns and some antique display guns, most of the inventory mentioned above was in those and the knife counter that was cleaned out. I was there and spoke with employee's about it, there full line of hand guns is availible as well as there vault of shotguns and rifles etc. The nice thing they have over a lot of other retilers that just sell you the gun is if it is a current common gun they may have one in there rental counter and you can try it on the range right there before you buy, and they have a full staff to help you with all your questions.
