My father in law gave me this recently. It's a booklet put out by Colt but has no date anywhere. As its title suggests, it's a guide on how to shoot. It seems aimed at police officers. Just wondering if anyone can give me an approximate date for its publication. My guess would be the 50's or 60's.

Gene it doesn't have a copyright date somewhere inside the book? If so it can't be older than that date assuming they were included at date of sale.

No date anywhere. I suppose I could call Colt, but thought I'd check here first. There are some drawings / photos of some Colt pistols inside. I guess I could check the dates on their manufacture and take the last year of manufacture, but the dress on some of the people int he photos seems to be from the 50s. Some of the revolvers pictured are the Official Police, the Police Positive Special and the Officers Model Special Target Revolver. I think these are all out of production now, but will check another website.

A few more clues. One page has photos and names of some of the famous shooters of the time:

Harry Reeves - Detroit Police - 9 National Records

    Huelet Benner - U.S. Army - 5 National Records

    T.E. Barrier - U.S. Marines - 1 National Record

Emmett Jones - Los Angeles Police - 1 National Record

Gloria Norton - Woodland, CA - 13 National Women's Records

    It's just my curiosity.

I would guess early to middle 50s, based on Joe Benner and Reeves, but no Blankenship.

Thx. I did check it on the Colt Forum.
    We have a consensus - early 1950s.
