It's a great deal! Reduced waste costs. Got the members on board picking up shells. Looks good for community relations. Getting free swag like benches and racks. White Flyer picks up the bags upon delivery. No downside!

I suspect the answer is profit, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

They probably have an economical way to separate the metal bases from the polyethylene plastic and sell both.

Capitalism at work in the good old USA.

tim99 - Obviously they need to make a profit. I just don't see the margin in recycling old shotgun shells. If the bases were still brass, maybe. But there can't be much to be made from steel heads. And not many have been successful in recycling plastic for profit. Even recycling 100% plastic soda bottles has been a bust for the local landfills. The landfill gets most of its benefits from its plastic recycling from keeping the bottles out of the landfill. Plastic bottles do not compress and their tendency to popcorn is a problem for the landfill.

Good ole mrs Keet & her bright cheery outlook on life. I for one sure hope this hull & cardboard re-cycle venture is profitable & takes off like a dragster. Ross Puls

Lake Havasu Sportsmans Club is starting a recycle program with GG.
Makes sense to recycle the steel, plastic and cardboard. The cardboard inserts from the bird boxes can be reused by White Flyer. Just takes a little cooperation by club members. Gary

I was told that the bags of hulls when full weigh 400-600lb and you may need a fork lift to get it in the truck when they pick up ?? Also there is no credit for cardboard ?

Markham Park range in S. Florida is going to join the GG program. They throw 100k targets a month so filling a lot bags with emptys, cardboard inserts and target boxes should go fairly quickly.
