I belong to a group of shooters called the "Cavaliers" that are looking for a trapshooting venue to hold our semi-anual, three day shooting tournament. We need the use of 5 traps for two three day weekends, one in the spring and one in the fall. Our outing includes our wives so your area would be a great place to hold it since our wives could take advantage of the plentiful shopping in the Lancaster area. I thought that I'd try to find a local club that could meet our needs prior to contacting any hotels in the area. Please contact me asap either by email or phone.

Fred,
I've already got the word out to South End and it should be brought up at their next board meeting. I'm sure that the ladies would love the shopping at the Reading outlet stores. I know that I do.
Ed, I remember the good old days of the Cavaliers when they shot the annual tournament at National Capital Skeet and Trap Club in Montgomery County, Maryland and the headquarters hotel was the Kenwood Country Club as I recall. A classy organization then, and, I hope, now. Where are most members drawn from now?
#1- http://www.southendgc.com/ furthest / largest by far
#2- http://www.oxfordgunclub.org/ running weekly and more trap events on 5 traps / sporting clays, skeet
#3- very close - New Holland Rod & Gun Club ~ 10 mi. east of Lancaster 4 working traps. Getting a 5th machine for existing house (I think) They are in Amish country near Intercourse, PA. Beautiful, scenic club on top of ridge with view.
Eightbore,
Most members are from New Jersey, Staten Island, Long Island, Eastern PA, and Delaware. Membership is open to shooters and their wives from anywhere willing to travel to where ever we hold our outings, as long as they can withstand the initiation ceremony.
If you're traveling that far, you would probably want to check with South End. They have twelve active traps, shoot weekly etc. They have the largest club house with plenty of parking and have some RV hook-ups as well. The drive from there to Lancaster is on Interstate type roads on Rt. 422 and Rt. 222.
I've already contacted someone from South End. They're going to bring it up at the next board meeting. Actually that was the first place that I thought of because of the proximity to the Reading outlet stores. Great place to shop for both the ladies and the men.
HI Ed, Why not get an offer at Bucks? The facility is more than we need, the club house is great for a catered meal, the ladies could go nuts at Lahaska and the travel for the people up in New York is not much more than the Manor. The guys at the club would be happy to close down a weekend to hold a club event. Just my 2cts. Ken Foster.
Ken,
I've already talked with them, on Tuesday, and they would be happy to accomidate us. I'm just trying to find an acceptable hotel, nearby. Unless we can come over your house for the weekend. I'm sure that Dee could find room for all of us.
Always willing to try and make accommodations for any group at BCF&G.
You might want to look at the Bed and Breakfasts in the New Hope area as well as setting up a winery tour for the ladies. There are lots in the Bucks County area, at least ten of them within a half hour of the club.
