How many went to the cemetery and trimmed the grass, washed the grave marker and tidied up the grave plots of their relatives? I take my kids to do this every year.<br>

And, if you appreciate the flags being planted on veteran's graves on Memorial Day, thank a scout. I was a scout leader for five years. We joined other scouts from the council area, and went to Willamette National Cemetery in SE Portland. The scouts were sent in pairs. One to plant the flag, the other to say the name of the vet aloud, then they'd salute and move on the next marker. So many scouts showed up that we'd plant 90,000 flags in under 30 minutes.
