Overheard a fellow trapshooter say that "once or twice a year he removes the stock from his trapgun and soaks the reciever/trigger assembly in mineral spirits/paint thinner overnite to remove dirt and grime...any comments...OK to do?...I removed the stock from my XT...internals looked filthy after maybe 50,000 rounds...like some advice...thanks.

I would soak it for a few minutes in mineral spirits. Light washing with a paint brush may help and then clean out the receiver with compressed air if possible. The air will make a mess so be careful. Lightly lube the surfaces that need lube and then shoot some good scores.
