I was wondering how much Clay Dot everyone is using with thier 1oz loads, and how fast are they running over the chronograph? I loaded up some AA's with the XL1 downrange, with cheddite primer and 17.0gr of claydot, I was just curious about how fast you think this is running?

    Thanks

That's a decent load. I use 16.5 Claydot, Remington hull, GreenDusters, Winchester primers for about 1150fps. Your results should be between 1150 to 1200 depending on all the variables.

I switch off and on between Clays and Claydot,(which ever is cheaper at the time)
Hodgdon site shows the load I use. 18.3 Clays, XL-1 wad, Remington Gun Club hull and Fiocchi 616 primers. They say this will give you 1235 fps. If I'd drop down to 17gr. of Clays it would slow it down to 1180 fps. I love this load.

Avg. 17.8 ClayDot, Remington Gun Club hull, DR XL1 wad, Nobel Sport Primer. Runs appx 1200-1250fps. Burns clean.

Big, I realize it has been out since 06, BUT I live in Massachusetts try finding a local gun shop that is actually stocking reloading stuff with a variety. Right now with in 15 miles I have about 12 shops no wads unless you want claybuster 1 1/8 oz. Powder,,,,,yeah buy the 1lb can if your lucky. Might have red dot, Hodgdon Clays and green dot. lead, Hah Hah Hah. aint no lead any where since Nov 07. As far as ordering it. Tried getting through the club from birchrich???? out of new york. They sent Hodgdon. They substitute a lot. I got 8lbs of hodgdon clays and 2 lbs of international to use up. Then it will be Clays if It is found locally.
