What hull are you using? A half grain more of powder should get you 1175 to 1200 fps., depending on the hull.

Go to the Alliant web site, they have all kinds of loads information for ClayDot. I use it myself.

Claydot will use the same recipe as clays. I reload all of my Remington's with 1 1/8 oz shot, 18.5 gr. clay dot, fig. 8 wads, & win 209 primers.

Claydot loads track with Clays; the reason why you don't see more loads is because both powders develop high pressures with hotter 1 1/8 oz payloads. I personally don't use more than about 17.5 grains of either one for an ounce & an eighth. You can use more with the one ounce loads.

If you want 1200 fps with 1 1/8 use Green Dot; about 20 grains of that will get you the speed with lower pressures.

Use it for all of my 1oz loads, haven't found anything nicer. For 1-1/8oz I keep it at 17.5grs or less and it's fine.

Caution: loads like Clays and drops the same as Clays is different. You will need a different bushing, someone told a guy at my club it loads just like Clays, so he used the same bushing.

Clays and Clay Dot aren't the powders for 1 1/8 Oz x 1,200 fps (+) loads. But thats okay because a 'tame' load at 1,150 fps will do everything you need. If you really must have the higher velocities go with Green Dot.

Dustyrox; If you try the 1150 load you might also try changing chokes if possible; I find an IM works well with that load.

I have reloaded Clays and Clay Dot in my Mec reloader.

I use the adjustable charge bar and when I would switch from Clays to Clay Dot I never had to change anything. They would both drop the same amount without changing the charge bar.

But I do believe that some lots would/could be different than others, so be cautious when reloading.

Me2. I've found about 17.2grs with 1oz seems to be perfect for single and 1st shot doubles. Same charge with 1-1/8oz for 2nd shot doubles works great.

I use a Remington hull, 17.9 grains of Clay, DRRT12 wad, and a Remington primer. I was thinking about switching to Clay Dot and Winchester primers to save a little money.

Is there any negatives with Clay Dot? I'm new to the reloading world so any help would be appreciated.

I just bought some clay dot for the first time and loaded up some remington hulls with fiocchi primers cb4100-12b wads and 19.5 grins of powder. They worked great and burned very clean. I am going to stop using green dot now and save money with clay dot. 3 grains less for the same speed at only 9050 psi.
