A quick update and another question.

I am considering a '74 Browning Citori Trap, it has the low rib. Nice wood, excellent metal. Price is $715

The helpful folks on this site provided links and I just learned that parts on this early gun are no longer available.

Even though it is in excellent shape, is a person pretty much out of luck if something breaks? Should I walk away?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here's the Browning web page that will allow you to decipher the serial number:

    http://www.browning.com/customerservice/dategun/detail.asp?id=32

If I am deciphering correctly (no guarantees) it's a 74 with the serial number 12379.

Here's the Browning Parts/Service number in Missouri; they'll know for sure: 636-287-6800

well the h designates 12ga. and 12379 is the production number and 47 reversed is for 74 acording to the Browning website.

There is a nice Citori Trap combo 34/32 (F/F/MOD) for sale on GB. Asking $1500 with no bids. Similar sets have sold on this site for 'bout that much. The TS barrel alone is worth $700+. So your gun price is in keeping with recent action.
