OK I have discovered that cheap shells with steel bases will not hurt my barrel so now the next question is of all the so-called cheap shells out there which ones have the hardest shot. looking for a shell that I can use for 27 yrd ATA and not have to worry about saving hulls, at least if I shoot bad I can have the fun on tossing shells!

deadpair, I've been thinking about trying some of the Herter's shells that Cabela's stores are selling in our area. I don't know much about them, except they are made in Italy. Maybe someone who has tried them can comment about their performance.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I personally wouldn't shoot any from the 27. But that's me.

Noblesport handicap shells will break anything from the 27.However; If you're shooting a Ljutic, Infinity & a Seitz---forget about using them

Estates break targets just fine from the 27 - but they aren't magic shells that compensate for shooting errors or anything like that

I bought 4 flats of the Herters a while back, mainly to practice with.
A couple of weeks ago I shot them from the16 In a registered shoot and,
Broke 100 straight with them. I have not tried them on handicap though.

I've been using the Herters from the 27 and they do just fine. Not as good as my reloads, but I wouldn't hesitate to use 'em in a competition. The ones I have are the cheap ones, but the base is brass, not steel.

Phil, you can add my K-80 to the list of guns not to use with Noble sport. I can and have used them in my Perazzi and they work fine in that one.

Well, guess I'll find out. Just ran in and bought 4 flats of 1oz. 8's and the only flat of l l/8 of 7 1/2 that they had. Will give them a try and see what happens.

They had Estates(which I've shot many of) but they were 10 bucks A flat higher.

Herter's from Cabelas are made in Italy by Cheddite. I'm pretty sure they are brass colored steel heads. Shot well enough and Cabelas will run decent sales on tem...

Shot a few flats of Herters and no problems whatever yardage. Cabelas in St. Louis has them for $59.99 a flat. Saw them on the floor today.

My son shot 20 flats of Noblesports last season and had absolutely no problems in his 1100 Classic trap and they absolutely crushed targets.

He also shot the Noblesport International loads at Colorado Springs this summer with no problems in a Browning XS Special (about 1200 rounds)

We have had less problems(o, zilch, none) with the cheaper or less desirable shells than we did when we were shooting AA's. It seemed with AA's, there were at least 1 dud or shell that wouldn't even chaber in every flat. Sometimes 2 or 3.

I'll keep buying the "chep" shells!! Less problems!

All the Herters indicate on the box is, made in Italy.

The ones I have are steel rimed, with a Brass wash. Not real Brass. I have yet to try them.
