Anybody else have one of these neat 2 shot forward pump repeaters? It is the top gun in the pic followed by a Burgess Pistol grip pump and Spencer 1882 pump.
Does anybody have any good stories about "Sparrow"?
    Thanks, Ross

We are old, but not that old!

I only know what I have read, no personal experience.

    Ross:

"Sparrow" Young's frist patent was assigned to him from Silas H. Barton, also of Enon, Ohio. I believe Barton's patent was granted June 18, 1901 and numbered 676,809.

The Young Repeating Arms Co., first patented these 2-shot magazine single barrel repeating shotguns that year (1901) and I've been told there are only a few known to be in existance.

The September 16, 1902 patent (709,385) of Charles A. Young of Enon, Ohio was credited for improving variouls parts of magazine firearms, in particular the one made by Silas Barton.

Charlie Young would go on to patent several more firearm improvements:
    No. 954,663, granted April 12, 1910 (firearm)
    No. 955,490, granted April 19, 1910 (firearm)
No. 1,029,037, granted June 11, 1912 (repeating firearm)
No. 1,552,460, granted Sept., 8, 1925 (repeating firearm)
No. 1,837,512, granted Dec. 22, 1931 (repeating firearm)
    No. 2,365,036, granted Dec. 12, 1944 (firearm)
No. 2,530,560, granted Nov. 21, 1950 (safety lock for firearm)
    No. 2,553,995, granted May 22, 1951 (firearm)

I would like to learn more about your Young Repeating shotgun (serial # & patent date). Would you please email me at TRAP200@aol.com or call me 856-358-2947 anytime
