Saturday, Sept. 12th, First Annual Sportmen's Challenge Shoot - non members welcome, 150 non-registered targets for $40, 50 targets on our new Sporting Clays course, 50 - 5-Stand targets, and either 50 16 yard trap or 50 skeet targets, your choice. $3 from each entry to a Lewis Class purse, 3 classes plus limited edition buckles awarded one place for each 10 entries, high gun. Restaurant at club for breakfast and lunch. CGESC is 4 miles south of Creswell, OR on old hwy 99. Once again, Fox News schedules perfect weather but the blackberries may be a little over-ripe.....Bob Dodd

Hi Jay, the Sporting course is a permanent thing in the eyes of the club but will be adjusting here and there along the way. Looking at the Sept. schedule of events, it appears Sporting will be open and available, along with other venues, tuesdays from 1 to 8 and sundays from 10am to 2. They also expect to open it up after the PITA events on sat, sun, and mon, sept 5, 6, and 7. It's a plan under construction so it will be changing along the way but is expected to be permanent and regular when the best days and times are finalized. The course is now mostly on the west bank and even a couple of stations across the back fence and is noted as a lot of fun by participants. Note that I'm not in a decision making position, just an interested member of the club.....Bob Dodd

The shoot is over; a resounding success with 39 shooters and towns represented included Portland, Salem, Redmond, Roseburg, and, of course, locals in the general area of Eugene, OR. The weather was great, even a little too warm at the end, 5 stand, trap, skeet, and sporting was active. 4 buckles awarded and Lewis purse rewarded, I believe, 8 people.

The PITA, 3 day, Labor Day shoot was also well attended considering Fox News failed on the weather and gave us 2 days of showers and wind on the 3rd. Very few bailouts, however, and fun was had by all, including the "special event" Sun. night for the two handicaps on Monday. Thanks to all that came and stayed through the weather......Bob Dodd
