We were putting a spacer on my brother in law's GC and found a kinetic balancer in the stock. What is it and how does it work? Reminds me of a recoil reducer.

It's a balancer and recoil reducer. If he got the gun new, would

have come with instructions and extra weights and I think springs.

There's a post somewhere on how to adjust it.

Well, it is a recoil reducer of sorts. It's a fairly simple device that has weights on a shaft that are set between 2 springs. You can adjust it a bit with the 2.5mm set screws, but I doubt you'll notice any differences. If the stock ever needs to be shortened, the shaft can simply be cut, but the end of the device will need to be inletted where the cut is. Not that big of a problem.
