How many of you have received tne new "American Community Survey" from the Census Bureau? To better help the Dept of Commerce allocate funds for emergency services, schools, etc. they want to know the names, birthdates/birthplace of every person living in my house. In addtion they need to know who we work for, how much money we take home from all sources, how much rent or house payment we make, how much we pay for utilities, property taxes, how many cars we own and more and more. Of course all this information must be provided (by law) and it's only going to be used by the Census Bureau. The Amercian Community Survey seems like a gross imposition on individual privacy to me.

They have an "IAW" and quote the federal directive and no, you don't sign for it. Believe it or not, it's sent address to "the Resident at" and has your house number on it.

I throw all census forms in the trash. I'll only confirm how many people are living in the house - all I'm required to do by law - when they send someone to the front door to find out.

The Census Bureau completed their count in 2010 and by law will not collect information until 2020. In regard to the form you recieved asking for more information, depending on which form you filled out in 2010, the bureau already has the information requested. INTO THE GARBAGE CAN SHREADED!!!!

    Chuck

P.S. Brian in Oregon is correct---you are only required to give them a number of how many people are living at the residence.
