Had my right eye done Tuesday morning, wished I could say I am thrilled but it's not so, was supposed to correct my distance vision, blurry as heck and sore as heck in the mornings but the drops do help with the soreness, Have a pre op for the left eye Monday and if it's not better we may put the left one on hold, am I jumping the gun? I know from other threads that lots of shooters here have been down this road.
O had implants when I had cataract surgery done. No pain and seen 20/20 rift out of the office. For the right eye. Had left eye done 3 weeks later. I was happy as he//....... Bill
Mixed Results from my experience so far, had it done to my left eye as I had no distance vision left from that eye.
At first all was good, then a large floater formed in the center of the eye, drove me nuts for 3 months, then at the last trap shoot that disappeared and I had a 100 dots floating around in it's place....but actual vision is still improved except for all the floaters...like I said...mixed results.
Long story short, the doc is now concerned about retinal detachment from the surgery and has cut off my shooting (no sudden head movements) for a month and then will re-evaluate.
Left eye on 1-27. right eye on 2-3. the discomfort was similar to Hivolti, but the vision was pretty good with the left eye during the first week. After the right eye, I had the same discomfort, but again the same very good vision shortly after the surgery. the second week for each recovery was again fairly uncomfortable. But toward the end of that week, i was feeling pretty good. Now 2 months down the road my uncorrected vision is close or at 20/20. Strangely the small correction I had in all of my old lenses brings my vision to 20/15 and holding. I can see the black rim on the target.
I attempted to shoot not long after the surgery with the OK of the doc, but I lacked the confidence to handle a gun and my gimpy left shoulder said no. I backed out of 2 jackpot shoots without firing a shot. could not shoulder the gun
a week ago I was able to shoot, but could not correlate the bbl with the target. Today, I was able to do that and broke 22 of 25 from 26. the gun began to feel good again. It did not at anytime over the past 3 or 4 weeks. In fact, I could not shoot. Somewhat psychological, yes.
I was fortunate in that the internal health of my eyes is good. I have had vitreous detachment, but no macular effects have or had shown up.
I expect that your discomfort will be manageable during this coming week. Mine improved greatly.
PM me if any of you want more personal experience.
Ok I guess I am jumping the gun some. I guess what has me bugged is I had pretty good vision the day after surgery, post op went very well with the doc happy, problem then was I was still dilated, that cleared up now I am blurry but every now and then my vision clears for a short while then goes away.
thanks for the replies, I guess I do not have much choice but to ride this out.
Had both eyes done about three years ago. No pain or discomfort at all. Saw 20/20 next day and improved to 20/15. Posterior vitreous detachment (Lacey floaters) developed within 30 days after surgery. Struggled with floaters about a year until I found a Dr. that was not locked into tho old wives tale that nothing could be done. This guy does about eight per week with professional athletes being among his patients. I had both eyes done, about three months apart, with no discomfort at all. 100% successful. No recurrence or problems since.
This subject has been discussed extensively here on TS in the past. A search should find detailed info. Good luck, Marc
I had both eyes done within a two week time period. 20/20 the day after each surgery the most pain was having them put an intervenous line before the surgery, damn I hate needels! hope the second eye works out better, Id give it some time as your doing based on the problem your having. What is your doctor saying about the blurred vison and pain/
Had right eye done 4 weeks ago can see well but it still burns with out eye drops. left eye 1 week ago eye is blury until noon each day, then starts to clear up. Hope things get better. Still need reading glasses. Butch H
Thanks for the replies, went for pre-op yesterday and it was by far my best day since surgery, missed one letter on the 20/20 line, doc did a careful exam and told me I still had some swelling and that as soon as it went down my vision would clear more, discomfort in the mornings is easing up, on go for other eye Thursday morning.
I had perfect vision in both eyes for one week after completion of surgery. At that time, the macular membrane in my shooting eye ruptured and four corrective surgeries later I have very poor vision. I fall into the acceptable risk category of about 1/2 of one percent of surgeries that go bad.
I never had eye problems one prior to surgery and that is just the way it goes.
Make sure you read all the papers prior to surgery as there is nothing you can do about it. There is risk in all surgery. I was just one of the unlucky ones and my happy shooting days are pretty much over.
Not sure what it was called but it required entering the eye and surgically removing the virtuous detached floater. This was done thru a small incision at the side of the eye while a saline solution was injected to keep the eye inflated. A complete success in both eyes. Rapid and complete recovery, no pain or discomfort. The worst thing to deal with was wearing an eye cup for a few nights. Marc
