Why would we need outside help when we have a standing military, National Guard units, and state militias and the police?

The Canadians would be able to carry our orders from superiors without any qualms like the National Guard would, most of whom are your neighbors. Get it?

Maybe thats Obamas plan to help keep costs down. We are down sizing our military to save money.

I think we can assume the Government is getting nervous.

As was stated before,"If screaming in the streets would remove an inept leader, maybe it's time to join the masses, screaming" Our troops wouldn't fire on us, I can't speak for others! Looks like someone is getting nearvous.

This might be BS like most of these posts but regardless- we do have agreements like this with other nations- nothing new

Also- Canada hardly has any military remaining- they have downsized.

I can tell you with certainty, knowing officers in the Canadian Armed Forces that they would most certainly rather be home than doing some relief effort in the US

    Regards from Iowa

If you worry about the Canadian army you are smoking really good stuff. Standing at a strength of roughly 67,000, plus 26,000 reservists, they would be hard pressed to control much of anything. We cannot control Iraq or Afghanistan with over 50k in each country.

It would be a good idea to wait for them to storm across our border and then a few thousand of us could rush over and claim British Columbia. This would give us unrestricted access to Alaska. Much easier than securing our border with Mexico. Those Mexican drug cartels shoot back!

Sounds like a really stupid idea for both countries. What lame brain thought this up?

Just remember the last time you came up with evil intent- we kicked your asses all the way back to Washington and burned down the White House.

Those who don't recall their history are doomed to repeat it.

Does this mean I can bring my trap gun across without paperwork to shoot ATA, like in the "good ole days " ?

    Shooting Sailor,

That would be the War of 1812. The only war the US did not win. Of course, Americans will never admit they "lost" a war so we tend to write it up as neither side won.

Don, where are you from since you don't consider yourself to be an American?

BTW, the US didn't lose the War of 1812 either- it ended with a peace treaty. It did end on a high note for us Americans though when Andrew Jackson whipped the Brits in the battle of New Orleans. Granted, that happened after the peace treaty was signed, but it was still an ass whupping of major proportions.

All you need is some Molsons and Tomatoe juice, and the Canadian forces will be your best buds.

    Shelly,

Dual citizen US/Can. I can go either way. LOL

Born in Canada but became a US citizen in 2005. Both great countries, but the US is the best place in the world. Too many Americans do not appreciate what they have. Some, sadly, are actively trying to destroy it.

When I came to the US in 1990 I thought we would be about 30 years "behind" the socialism of Canada. My "free" health care came with an Income Tax rate of about 55%. Gun rights were already on the way out.

I hear the whining from some and it pisses me off. They have no idea how good this country is - in spite of it not being perfect. Let the Left make it "perfect" and they will see what a sorry mess is created.

Dverna, you are an asset to the site. Didn't know you from Canada. Now, if we can only figure out where Tron and BIGDON are originally from. Different planet?
