I have 2 1990 model 870 TC's with 30" step rib target bbls. Is there any way I can tell if they are overbored without a bore guage?

Presumably they are full choked or have full choke tubes... see if you can put a dime down the muzzle...

Do you mean over choked or back bored?

The only barrel work can visually see without a bore gauge is lengthen the forcing cone.

In your case, if the chokes are original to the barrel, and say "Trap Full", "Trap Extra Full", and "Trap Super Full", you have one of the overbored barrels.
