As I understand state shoots, there are customarily three courses of fire:

    16 yard singles

    Doubles

    Yardage Handicap

In reviewing this program, which is likely an excellent and representative state shoot, I have some questions:

    http://www.kytrap.org/state_shoot/2010_Program.pdf

Event 1, Event 6, Event 8 and Event 10 are all singles events. Are these different events or playoffs from the prior singles events? If these are all different events, what's the difference between them, and which event crowns the state 16 yard champion?

    Thanks for the explanation.

They are different events. Event 10 is the singles championship.

Thanks, Setter. Can one pick which event to enter? What's the advantage of winning the lesser events?

As I look at Event 6, I see these fees:

    Entry (not including daily fees)
    $28.00
    3 Lewis Classes (60%-40%)
    $20.00
    Class Purse (50%-30%-20%)
    $20.00

Does one have to pay $68 to enter the event?

You can pick & choose, entering one, or all, or hopscotching.

All you HAVE to pay is the $28 for targets & throphies, ±$5 daily fees. The Lewis and Class Purse are the gambling options. Optional options.

The advantage to winning is ... well, 'winning', and making expenses if you play the money. man is a competitive animal, and we all like to compete and win ('win' can be improvement, personal best, trophies, applause ...).

Trap is about ... shooting ... and most shoot the day's program: 3 events or 300 birds.

You're a pistol shooter: you can shoot the 2700, or a couple of timed stages and hardball.
